In Montecitorio square against the pardon

tomorrow starting at 9:00 before Deputies in Italy of Values is organizing a sit-in protest against the decision to pardon that is being passed by Parliament.

The initiative will be present all the Members of Italy of Values, Professor Pancho Pardi, Marco Travaglio, the Friends of Beppe Grillo and all those who are against this measure that throws a wet sponge over ten years of ill repute of economics and finance.

The pardon law, created to leave the prison, has been extended to crimes of false accounting, corruption, tax and financial crimes even against the Public administration. We are faced with a sponge, a very serious act, which contains partial information, and often instrumental, by newspapers and television.

The Italians have to hear their voice and strong, in all legitimate ways we can to prevent yet another step backward for democracy.

PS On the Republic there is a poll on the subject of the pardon.

rehearsal governissimo

Monday's vote for the pardon.
The Union and the CDL will vote overwhelmingly for its approval. The pardon will include financial crimes, corruption, false accounting relating also to public authorities. They all agree because all are involved to varying degrees. This amnesty program was not included in the Union and is a favor done to large portions of the CDL. It 'a dress rehearsal of governissimo.

I express my utter disappointment and that of Italy of Values in the Council of Ministers. I proposed my resignation as a minister of the indifference of my colleagues. For a sense of responsibility towards the country can not withdraw the trust and the risk of early elections and a return of Berlusconi.

If I resign as a minister I can no longer be useful to citizens for infrastructure development in the country, and if I do not pick the IDV are held hostage by the government a situation that disgusts me. Politicians are increasingly distant from the citizens, I believe instead that the policy should be to serve its citizens and justify its decisions with absolute clarity.

dream of a different country, with no internal logic to the parties. Today they are faced with a dilemma: leave my position as minister or keep it. I would like to listen to your voice, you who follow me on this blog. Write to me, before deciding read all your comments.

July 18, 2006 Open letter to the Union

Today I wrote a letter EU leaders on the subject of the pardon.

"I write to an important issue and that concerns me a lot, both as an elector of the center, but also as president of Italy of Values, a party that is part of the majority to the Government.
This is the measure of the pardon and that is going to pass in Parliament. The reform, as proposed, provides that also included crimes against public officials (bribery, extortion, embezzlement, abuse, etc..) Financial crimes (accounting fraud, tax fraud, embezzlement, insider trading, etc..) And company (bankruptcy etc.): I think it is unacceptable for the credibility of our coalition.
If the problem is the issue of prison overcrowding, I do not understand it at all costs we must include among the people who will benefit from the pardon those who have committed these types of crime.
other hand, I fear, indeed, I am sure that this is yet another move of Freedom House to exonerate persons and persons with criminal cases and unclear on precisely these types of crime can not believe that the majority should come to terms on precisely those things for five years, we have criticized and opposed and said that we want to change. Italy of Values now agree that, among the rules in the legal field that have to do with the measure in question, even walk the pardon, because we realize that the situation of overcrowded prisons has come now to the limit. For this, the responsibility that we have today as the power of the majority and for the program that we signed with the coalition, we want to go on, but we could never bear to have one of the first measures adopted by the majority of the justice center is to leave Previti when, for years, we fought against the law on legitimate suspicion, the ex-Cirielli, the decriminalization of false accounting and Sheehan. As an elector of the center I could never understand such a choice. As President and member of the Italy of Values not the majority will never accept, with all the necessary consequences. The amnesty for corrupt

citizens chose the center-left to finally turn the page After years in which the concept of justice has declined to almost disappear completely. Ad personam "laws, amnesty, de-legitimization of the judiciary, impunity exaltation.
Italian citizens who voted for us, and I feel I can speak on behalf of the entire left and center not only for Italy Values, they did not even last over with the consent of Parliament and the impunity of corrupt tax evaders. At this point, this will of the voters, I think the party secretaries of the center-left coalition of Romano Prodi and the same can not but agree.
If we are in Parliament, if we are ministers, secretaries, presidents of both houses of parliament is only because Italians, even with a small majority of votes, they wanted a change for a new Italy, an Italy clean. And we, today, what do we do? We ignore our voters, take care of our comfortable armchairs and deliberating a draft law on the pardon that sends free the perpetrators of corruption, extortion, embezzlement, false accounting. Individuals in prison do not go there ever, but pardon to free the prisons. A pardon for these men, even Party leaders, both left-and center-right center, awaiting trial for which they may soon open the doors of the prison, it is scandalous. Italy of Values will be voting against this bill.
citizens, if any, should be approved, have been deceived. Not a good omen for a government that wants to last for five years.
